I never really got into Duke myself. I tried the Live Arcade version and I kept getting blown up. Though looing at the gameplay footage they released, it looked like Forever would've been a good 'un.

Well, it seems the developers crashed because they took too long to make their grandiose product. Not even Valve games take this long to make. Actually, the publishing rights are owned by Take Two. There's a fairly large possibility they can take the working assets from DNF, hand them to a different studio, and continue publication of it if they deem it worthwhile.

So hey, that's some consolation, DNF could still be coming out, and in fact, there's no reason to assume that Take Two wouldn't hire old 3D staffers to work on the stuff they built, so this realistically isn't the end of Duke.

Though seeing 3D gone is pretty nuts.

I dont know...the company doesn't have many shooters, and all of them but godfather 1 were a bit rushed and unfullfilling. I was extremely disappointed with how short godfather 2 was, and so much more could have been done with army of two.

But then again, if they took more time on their projects and made them longer and actually worth the 60$ they could do good, especially with the great gameplay features they have implemented.

I was so hopeful for this game, but really they should've just released 2-3 Duke Nukem forevers by now. Even if they weren't quite as good as they should've been, this could have been avoided, and by now we could have been having a really great Duke Nukem game (after all, the company would have learnt from the extra games that they made). Our only hope is that another company will pick it up and do it justice.

I LOVED those games, I can't believe that then just procrastinated for soooooooooo many years just to announce that they dropped the project.

This type of stuff pisses me off. So many people preordered the game, and then practically waited while hopes and dreams died around us all. I mean, Duke was one of the first shooters ever to appear in the gaming world, and we can't let him die just because of a company going bankrupt. We need to make a tribute/collab to Duke and his bad-assness. Also, we got to remember that Take-Two still owns the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever, which means that, technically, they are allowed to finish and sell the game. Will they use them and/or finish the game? probably not, but they might sell the copyrights to another company. Perferrably EA, or someone that can make a good game, not a half-assed version.

Take-two is sueing them over some bullshit about them not making the game, but Take-Two is publisher and owns the rights to the game and is trying to get the source code for the game to preserve it incase it is leaked during the trials, so if they are saving the source code, they might be getting someone new to finish it.
