I grew up seeing him as a hero too man. It sucks so hard that we'll probably NEVER see duke nukem again :*(. Hopefully 3D realms makes a return some day. You should check the leaked footage of Duke nukem forever thats been put out recently, it looked pretty damn awesome. Which is sure to make you even more depressed. :(

i dont even know what Duke Nukem is, but i know pain that is similar because they said they were going to make a Halo movie but never even finished it. i died inside when i found out cuz im a Halo freak

Actually, the publishing rights are owned by Take Two. There's a fairly large possibility they can take the working assets from DNF, hand them to a different studio, and continue publication of it if they deem it worthwhile.
So hey, that's some consolation, DNF could still be coming out, and in fact, there's no reason to assume that Take Two wouldn't hire old 3D staffers to work on the stuff they built, so this realistically isn't the end of Duke.
Though seeing 3D gone is pretty nuts.
