A sword in the one hand and an autoshotgun with a drum mag in the other.
Sounds like Warhammer 40000 Space Marine/Comissar style of warfare. Also often used by Hank J Wimbleton.
Maybe there will be two tipes of weapons: one-handed (knives, machetes, katanas, sabres, hatchets, shortswords, police batons, pistols, SMGs) and two-handed (Zweihander/Claymore swords, large axes and maces, sledgehammers, rifles and machineguns, grenade launchers, flamethrowers). One-handed can be used in pair or with a riot shield but this required a special skill. Maybe also some characters like Hank can use two-handed weapons with a one hand (like Hank used axe in Antipathy).
Don't forget about grappling system, executions and body shields.
